    What it is about

Jarrett Buba, 52, is facing new charges following an alleged anti-Semitic attack on Jewish students at the University of Pittsburgh last week. He is now also accused of a similar assault at Carnegie Mellon University a day earlier.

    Why it matters

This incident sheds light on rising concerns about campus safety and anti-Semitic actions targeting Jewish students. The prompt response from law enforcement emphasizes Israel’s advocacy for protecting Jewish communities globally.

    The Details

Authorities arrested Buba after surveillance footage captured him throwing a glass bottle at Jewish students at the University of Pittsburgh on August 30. Initially charged with aggravated assault and related crimes, Buba now faces additional charges, including attempted aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, and harassment.

    Earlier Incident

New details reveal Buba allegedly attacked two individuals associated with Carnegie Mellon University on August 29, attempting to strike them with a bottle but missing and hitting a parked car instead.

    Carnegie Mellon Investigation

Carnegie Mellon University authorities identified Buba using his arrest photo from the University of Pittsburgh incident. This identification has led to the formal addition of new charges against him.

Currently held in Allegheny County Jail, Buba awaits a September 12 preliminary hearing regarding the University of Pittsburgh attack, with a hearing for the additional charges yet to be scheduled.
